Did you know that farmers turn sunlight into corn and then into biofuels? That’s right. Corn-based ethanol is clean-burning, homegrown, affordable, low-carbon and readily available fuel that is the #1 fuel choice at the pump. Besides being a renewable fuel unlike petroleum-based gas, ethanol reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, decreases our dependence on foreign oil, creates jobs in our sta...

I surprised you didn't break any teeth. Lol! I knew this city boy that thought he could just pick any corn and cook it and eat it and was confused to find out it wasn't sweet corn. I would have paid to see his expression. Lol!

If you let the sweet corn mature and dried it, it would be a fair test. Or you could harvest the dent corn in the milky stage. My wife craves white field corn. Her family called it shoepeg, but shoepeg is canned as a sweet corn so obviously not the same thing. The young field corn is cut off the cob and the cob is scraped with a knife to remove the milk. It’s cooked in the oven mixed with butter and salt. That’s it and it’s flippin delicious. Something like creamed corn, just not sweet. I would bet even roundup ready hybrid feed corn has a milk stage when it would be edible as a vegetable.

in some asian countries field corn is also known as glutinous corn.. due to it's high starch content.. I've tried boiled field corn once in Thailand.. slightly cheaper than sweetcorn but worth a hearty meal.. the thais boil milk stage field corn in a savoury broth for flavour infusion..

@@danielc6792if you dig coal out of the ground and burn it, it creates more energy than what it takes to mine it. Wonder why we don’t see an E-85 push??? 🤔 They couldn’t cover up the fact that the fuel mileage was so horrible so let’s mandate that everything has to have a 10% - 15% blend and maybe the consumer won’t see the 10% reduction in fuel mileage.

Add organic matter. I collect leaves a lot here in florida usa and add them. And i try to always plant something all year. Live roots in the ground + protecting the ground from the sun. You will retain more water and give the insects, worms etc (the real workers) something to be attracted to.
